Small Teams Disrupt
Research published in Nature, used a measure that its authors called disruption. what they found was that whilst large teams get the job done, if you want remarkable and innovative solutions then small teams are far more successful.
Scientists from University Of Chicago took this study and saw that the more authors a study had, the less innovative it was. In fact they found that teams of 50 are 70% less innovative than individuals.
"These results suggest the need for government, industry and non-profit funders of science and technology to investigate the critical role that small teams appear to have in expanding the frontiers of knowledge," the researchers wrote.
Of course, they could just have popped along to their local Wework to see how the business start up community operates rather than spunk all that resource on a study but who am I to say as an individual against such a large research team?
