Tipping, a totally divisive antiquated custom.
UVW the trade union representing Harrods 483 kitchen and dining staff accuse the Queens grocer of keeping up to 75% of service charges and that this reduces staff income in the 16 store dining establishments by £5k per year.
Why the custom of paying up to 15% of the bill to receive food at the table which is the whole point of a restaurant persists and the fact that the "discretionary" service charge added to bills is allowed is more to the point in the 21st century isn't it?
FN says scrap service charges, ban tipping and pay staff the going rate. Rant over!!
Back to work today-Enjoy!
