Scrap Job Interviews
Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic who teaches at Columbia University in New York claims in his new book that job interviews should be scrapped to prevent narcissists being hired as managers.
Interviews encourage us to perpetuate our biases and to hire in our image rather than on merit.
He says that instead of the face to face interview we need more objective data to make better hiring decisions including psychological tests and analysis of past performance.
The qualities that succeed in interviews such as overconfidence are not consistent with long term managerial success.
