I Robot

Henry Ford was forced to double workers wages to $5 a day after the reaction to a moving production line resulted in 90% rates of staff turnover. Workers just were not used to becoming semi automatons and Ford insisted that the doubling of wages was conditional on workers maintaining a healthy and moralistic lifestyle.

Ford did not have the means in 1914 to electronically monitor whether this was actually the case. Companys now however are catching onto this again using new technology such as Fitbits and other purpose made devices to monitor every aspect of an employees life both in and out of work.

Bosses could compare employees or potential employees performance across a series of measures on a computer dashboard.

We often worry that robots will take our jobs but maybe we'll beat them at their own game and turn ourselves into robots before that happens?
